EMDR Intensive Therapy
Have you experienced a traumatic event? Do you feel like you no longer have any control over how you think, feel, and behave? Do you struggle with problems in your relationships or wonder why you keep attracting the same type of partner that ends in emotional pain? What about a childhood from which you feel you need to heal or recover? EMDR intensive therapy may be just right for you!
Having a really great therapy session and your time ending right in the middle is horrible feeling. Waiting for a week or two seems until your next session seems like so long and we don’t want to lose the progress.
So What is EMDR Intensive Therapy?
EMDR intensives serve as a powerful way to expedite the healing process, amplifying the transformative journey one would experience in a typical EMDR session. Rather than going to counseling for one hour weekly or bi-weekly, you set aside a period of time for intensive therapeutic work. It is a concentrated way to get the power and benefits of EMDR with longer sessions and less time in between healing and processing. It helps people get deeper, without interruption, and the space to feel better faster.
How does it work?
Prior to our first EMDR Intensive, we meet for an interview to determine the goal and desired intensive package. We will explore facets of your life including support you have, coping skills, current stressors, desired growth, and the relief you seek, all aimed at helping you take steps forward. Depending on where you are in life and your goals we may focus on earliest life relationships or focus on the future. This is all customized to you! After the EMDR intensive we meet for a post-intensive interview to reflect on what was meaningful to you and ways to incorporate that into your life moving forward. You will have time to discuss insights and experiences, as well as celebrate your progress.
Benefits of an EMDR Intensive:
- We are able to go deeper and have dedicated, uninterrupted healing.
- Save time and money (no weekly therapy; it adds up when therapy takes longer).
- Target issues at a faster pace than traditional 60-minute therapy.
- The ability to target issues that are bringing pain or causing you to feel stuck surrounding childhood trauma, negative beliefs about yourself, or betrayal trauma.
